He had made his return on Smackdown, even if it wasn't a "scheduled' appearance. He had struck like a snake in the grass. The intent was clear, to make a point. Only, exactly what that point was wasn't readily obvious. Regardless, Psycho Luke had been the recipient of the demonstration. Now all that was left to do was to explain the motivation. Of course no one could be sure he would explain anything.
The crowd was predictably raucous. The air was one of anticipation. this was a new beginning for WWE, a rebirth. Things weren't business as usual, and people were adjusting to the changes with an impatient curiosity. As the lights went out, there was the obligatory silence that precedes an entrance. "Won't Back Down" by Fuel began to play and the crowd immediately displayed it's disapproval. As the pyro exploded, Evan Starr emerged from the shadows. He was dressed in a turquoise dress shirt, with the top few buttons unbuttoned, and the sleeves rolled up slightly to display a gold bracelet on one wrist and the matching gold Rolex on the other. The ensemble was completed by black slacks, and dress shoes.
Tazz: Here comes Evan Starr JR.
JR: Yeah, and I'm sure he's real proud of himself after his actions on Smackdown.
Evan strolled confidently down the aisle with a smirk on his face. He looked at the crowd with disdain as they booed him. He climbed the steps and was handed a mic. Even before the music had completely died down, he started to speak, "Luke......Luke I know you're wondering just why I unleashed such brutality on you. I'm confident that, even though you'd never admit it, you're worried. (JR: I doubt that.) You're worried because right off the bat you're involved in something you don't wanna be involved in. You see Luke, you like to make your jokes and get a laugh outta everybody. You like to be able to sit back and relax. Make fun of people and act like a complete ass. That's your comfort zone. That's your comfort zone Luke, and I'm gonna take you out of it."
Evan paced the ring as he continued, "You see I've watched you for a long time Luke. You turn everything into a joke, and ride off into the sunset looking good. Well, you could never look good, but you know what I mean. Not this time, Luke. Not on my watch. I'm the wrong guy for the job. You will take me seriously. I'm gonna wipe that smile off your face. This isn't gonna be a big joke. This isn't gonna be a cartoon. I'm about to put you through hell Luke. I'm about to take you down a road that can end only in broken dreams for you. I'm about to take the fun out of it for you Luke. I don't care what I have to do, who I have to hurt. You're not gonna be the one laughing this time."
Evan continued pacing the ring, he rubbed a hand across his forehead and paused. He stared straight down, as some of the crowd started a "Luke" chant. Evan smiled as he looked back up, "You want Luke? Me too. I want him to come out here right now. Come on out Luke." Evan looked down the entrance ramp, and rested on the top rope "waiting" for Luke to emerge.
Tazz: Luke isn't here JR.
JR: No he's not, and you can bet Evan Starr knows that.
Evan threw his hands up with an expression of disappointment on his face. "You see, Luke doesn't wanna come out here. He doesn't wanna do that." Evan paused again briefly before launching into the next phase of his speech, "Now I'm sure many of you are wondering much like Luke, just why I attacked him. Well it can all be explained with just three little letters, C-W-F." Evan smirked as a brief "CWF" chant went up in the arena. "Indeed, CWF. The very same promotion where "The Supreme Being" Evan Starr made his debut. The promotion where I quickly became the biggest draw in it's history. Owned and operated by non other than Psycho Luke."
"I entered that promotion and embarked on one of the most impressive undefeated streaks in recent memory. Hell, one of the most impressive of all time. I destroyed everyone that was put in front of me. I annihilated nearly the entire roster, most of them more than once. Nobody wanted their name put opposite mine on a card. I was the prize of that roster, just as I am the prize of this one. It was there that I became "The Epic." It was there that I became the personification of perfection, the epitome of excellence, the model of magnificence, the example of extraordinary. I became a living, breathing, god among men. They couldn't find people willing to step in the ring with me."
"Through it all, I put together the win streak, claimed the International championship, and won the tournament of Malice. I did all that, but one prize eluded me. One accolade consistently escaped my grasp. The world championship. You didn't want me to have it Luke. You never wanted me to claim what was rightfully mine. Everyone in their right mind knew I was the guy to wear that title. The whole world knew I was the man to represent the company as it's figurehead. I was the only one worthy. But it never happened did it Luke? I was continually denied my rightful spot in the company. The person responsible was you Luke."
"After the company closed down, I thought long and hard about it. I wondered just why I couldn't get it out of my head. Do you know how disappointing it is Luke? Do you know what it feels like to spend a year working your ass off. Working a thousand times harder than the next guy. Do you know what it feels like to be so close to achieving a goal that you can almost reach out and grab it, so close you can taste it? Do you know what that feels like Luke? Do you know what that kind of disappointment feels like? Well, you soon will."
"The fact is Luke, you never wanted to see me with that title. You never wanted me to outshine you. Oh, sure you told anyone who'd listen that Evan Starr was a future champion. You told everyone that would listen that I was destined for greatness. Because you knew Luke. You knew just how great I was. You knew it and you couldn't stand it. You couldn't stomach the fact that I would usher in a new era in CWF. I would have ushered in an era of true athletes, rendering sideshow freaks like you obsolete. You knew that and you plotted to hold me back Luke. You threw challenge after challenge at me, and I chewed them up and spit them back at you. Nothing could stop me. Nothing but your behind the scenes politics. Your backdoor campaign to keep me away from that title."
"There's your explanation Luke. How's that for a motive? So now Luke, you're not the boss anymore. You're just an employee. There is nobody to protect you Luke. I'm gonna get a rise outta you. I'm gonna make it personal. Whatever I have to do, I'll do. You don't get to turn this one into a joke. And I'm gonna give you a little preview on Smackdown. And as an added bonus, I get to beat up that worthless pile of crap Arron Masters. I've always hated Arron Masters, he's a waste of skin if ever there was one. I can't stand the sight of that stupid idiot. He's gotten every opportunity he's ever been given because of the doors you open for him. I'll take pleasure in beating him to a bloody pulp."
"As far as Jeremy Adams is concerned, I single handedly got you the win against Luke. Don't forget that. I don't know you, so as it stands I have no quarrel with you. Do your job and we'll have no problem. Fail to do your job and there will be a problem. Luke, all I can say to you is be prepared. You try turning this into one of your little pranks, and I promise, I will hurt you in ways you never imagined. Smackdown is only gonna be the first round of what I have in store for you Luke. You robbed me of the most important thing in my life, and for that you will pay. Get ready Luke, it's gonna be a long journey for you and I."
Evan dropped the mic on the mat as "Won't Back Down" by Fuel began to play again. He ascended the turnbuckle, raising his arms triumphantly as he peered into the crown with an arrogant smirk.
